FORT VERMILION — Police in northern Alberta allege a woman who went missing last month was murdered.
Searchers began looking for Malena Loonskin after her disappearance in John D’Or Prairie, east of Fort Vermilion, on June 23.
RCMP her remains were found in a wooded area near her home on July 1 by a member of the public who was taking part in the search.
An autopsy has determined she was the victim of a homicide.
Her common-law-husband has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and committing an indignity to human remains.
Jason Tallcree will appear in provincial court in Fort Vermilion on Tuesday.
