A Red Deer man faces 30 charges related to drugs, weapons and stolen property after police executed a search warrant at a trailer on Burnt Lake Trail on Dec. 3.

Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams, along with Blackfalds and Red Deer RCMP, seized five firearms that were either stolen or prohibited. The guns included a Walther semi-automatic handgun, an Echasa semi-automatic handgun, Ruger .22 calibre rifle, a pistol grip Ithaca shotgun and a Rossi .44-calibre rifle.

Police say David Twerdochlib, 38, was arrested after leaving the trailer in a stolen vehicle. He was also allegedly found in possession of crack cocaine, hydromorphone pills and cash proceeds of crime.

Police say a search of the suspect’s trailer yielded a variety of stolen property, and the trailer itself was also found to be stolen.

Twerdochlib is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 10.

ALERT was established and is funded by the Alberta government and is intended to tackle serious and organized crime. Nearly 400 municipal police, RCMP, and sheriffs work in ALERT.
