Red Deer College is starting a conversation about gender and sexual orientation to help create “a safer and more equitable society.”
In celebration of social work month, Red Deer College is hosting a public seminar featuring the voices and stories of individuals who are allies for the LGBTQ+ community.
The event will be held Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Margaret Parsons Theatre on campus.
A variety of individuals will share their stories and discuss what being an ally means to them.
The event respects that allies can’t speak on behalf of members of the LGBTQ+ community, says the college. However, they can “use their voices to positively influence others to create a safer and more equitable society for everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.”
The evening will conclude with a question and answer session.
