EDMONTON — Alberta health officials are reporting another infant has been diagnosed with measles in the Edmonton area, the second case involving a baby in two days.
That brings the number of cases in the capital region to six, with 21 cases having been reported this year across the province.
Alberta Health Services says the child is too young to be vaccinated against highly contagious disease.
Officials have said most of the people who have come down with measles in Alberta this year were not immunized.
The disease is most serious in people under five and over 20, or people who have compromised immune systems.
The government says measles can’t be treated so immunization is the best defence against the disease.
