A number of groups in Central Alberta can now apply for funding from the Red Deer & District Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) for the 2024-2026 funding cycle.

In a release, the City of Red Deer said that FCSS is an 80/20 funding partnership between the provincial government and participating municipalities.

The combined funding is used to support preventive social initiatives, projects, and services that enhance the social well-being of individuals, families, and/or the community. In-school mentoring, preschool wellness and seniors outreach programs are examples of programs funded by FCSS.

The funding is for not-for-profit organizations, school boards, and playschools providing preventative social programs.

The Red Deer and District FCSS region includes the partner municipalities of The City of Red Deer, Red Deer County, Town of Bowden, Town of Penhold, Village of Delburne and Village of Elnora. Initiatives focusing on positive child and youth development, mental health, strong neighbourhoods and communities, and strong family connections are the current priorities for FCSS support.

There will be a pair of procurement orientation sessions later this month. The first will take place on March 13, from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. in the Crimson Star room, 2nd Floor, City Hall and the second is slated for March 17 from 10 to 11:15 a.m. in the Crimson Star room, 2nd Floor, City Hall.

Applications will be accepted until April 6 at 4 p.m. Further details, including information about the application process, can be found on The City’s website.
