Red Deer City RCMP are investigating an armed robbery at The Bay on Friday.

Police responded to a call around 5:45 p.m. about the incident at the large retail store on Molly Bannister Drive, on the west end of Bower Place Shopping Centre.

According to police, a woman entered The Bay, took several sweaters to the women’s washroom and placed them in her purse.

Two of The Bay’s loss prevention officers approached the woman as she was leaving the store. They were cut off by two men who are believed to have been waiting outside for the woman in a black Acura SUV.

One of the men allegedly threatened the first loss prevention officer with a knife, while the other attempted to assault the second officer.

The woman and the two men then fled the scene in the Acura.

The female suspect is described as Caucasian in her late 20s with blonde hair and approximately 1.7 metres (five feet seven) in height. She was wearing a pink jacket, light black sweater and carrying a large white purse.

The first male suspect is described as approximately 1.9 metres (six feet two) and wearing a black jacket. The third suspect, the second man, is described as Caucasian, about 1.8 metres (five feet 10), of medium build and wearing a white and black jacket.
