Armed robbery at Red Deer liquor store

Man pointed shotgun at clerk; escaped in waiting car

The East Hill Liquor Depot in Red Deer was robbed at gunpoint Sunday night.

Red Deer RCMP said that shortly after 10 p.m., a man entered the liquor store at 22nd Street and 30th Avenue and pointed a long barrel shotgun at the staff member while demanding cash.

The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money and got into the back seat of a waiting parked car, which fled the parking lot at a high rate of speed. The car was seen driving north on 40th Avenue and then turning west on Selkirk Boulevard. No one was injured in the robbery.

The man is described as Caucasian, 1.8 metres (5 feet 11 inches) tall, slim build, wearing a black hoodie and black balaclava.

The suspect car is described as an older red and grey car with metal rails on the trunk.
