Dozens of 41 Signal Regiment soldiers from the Red Deer, Edmonton and Calgary squadrons will be training in the Springbrook area this weekend.

“We’re doing communications and domestic operations training,” said Lt. Richard McKenty, 41 Signals public affairs officer.

“We’ll be practising training scenarios regarding command and control, road moves and security. We’ll be in wilderness areas but also through towns and private lands where we’ve had permission.

“It’s a communications exercise. They will be out and about setting up radio relays and contacts to practise communications.”

Signs will be posted in the areas where the military will be active.

The public is asked to not approach vehicles or the personnel taking part in the exercise and to watch out for any traffic control measures that have been put in place.

McKenty said the advance party is expected to arrive on Friday and the exercise will take place Saturday and Sunday.
