Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a high-profile 2009 Red Deer murder.
Brandon Smith, 22, was arrested at a Calgary residence at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday by members of the Calgary Integrated Fugitive Apprehension unit.
Smith was wanted in connection to the murder of Brandon Prevey, 29, who was gunned down in Red Deer’s Inglewood neighbourhood on April 5, 2009.
Red Deer City RCMP said it is alleged that the victim was shot while seated in a vehicle on Ibbotson Close and succumbed to his injuries.
Smith remains in police custody and is being returned to Red Deer to face charges, including one count of conspiracy to commit murder.
