An arrest warrant was issued for a Red Deer man following a suspected arson in Strathcona County.

On June 28 at about 9:15 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP and the local fire department were called to the scene of a residential fire at a rural residence.

The lone occupant of the house was able to escape unharmed. After fire investigators determined the fire was intentionally set, a criminal police investigation was launched.

As a result, an arrest warrant has been issued for Robert Martin, 45, a resident of Red Deer. He is facing charges of arson with disregard for human life and disobeying a court order.

Police believe Martin fled the scene with another unknown male suspect in a newer model white Ford F150. Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating, Martin and identifying the other man.

Martin is believed to be in the Red Deer area or in Kelowna, B.C. He is described as: six feet tall and 250 lbs. He is heavy-set with brown eyes and hair.

The unidentified male suspect is described as being over six feet tall, Caucasian, with a slender build.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Martin or the unidentified male suspect, please call the Strathcona County RCMP at (780) 467-7741.
