CALGARY — Former television journalist Arthur Kent says his "Scud Stud" nickname is part of his identity.
Kent is on the witness stand at a defamation trial that pits him against Postmedia and columnist Don Martin, author of a 2008 article critical of the former reporter who was running for a seat in the Alberta legislature.
The article, entitled "'Scud Stud' a 'Dud' on he Campaign Trail," portrayed Kent as an out-of-control candidate facing a revolt from his election team.
Kent became known as the "Scud Stud" for his live reports from a hotel rooftop in Saudi Arabia as Scud missiles were being fired during the Gulf War.
Kent says "Scud Stud" is not just a nickname to him.
He told court it has become part of his brand and identity.
