A baby treated by paramedics at the Collicutt Centre on Saturday afternoon is in good health and back home with parents.

An ambulance was called to the recreation centre in south Red Deer after a mother became alarmed by her nine-month-old baby’s unresponsive behaviour in the change room. The child and mother had previously been in the pool.

City of Red Deer recreation superintendent Barb McKee said the incident got a lot of public notice because it happen around the front desk. Centre staff provided first aid and administered oxygen to the baby before the paramedics came.

The child was taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, treated and released the same day. The baby returned to Sherwood Park with family members.
