The Blackfalds Christmas Bureau is now taking applications from families who could use some support this holiday season. Local businesses are also invited to get involved in the donation drive.

The Blackfalds Christmas Bureau supports over 100 families annually, including over 300 children, providing gift cards and festive food hampers.

With the pandemic continuing to depress the economy and affect many Blackfalds families, the need this year is greater than ever. The Blackfalds Christmas Bureau is challenging local businesses “to get involved, get vocal, and challenge other local businesses to raise donations to support this worthy cause.”

From Nov. 15 to Dec. 3, businesses are invited to: Register with Blackfalds FCSS; share on social media using #Blackfaldsxmas; challenge other businesses to get involved; and collect donations of non-perishable food items and gift cards.

“We look forward to a lot of friendly competition between our fabulous Blackfalds business community and can’t wait to follow the fun through #blackfaldsxmas,” shared FCSS Manager Sue Bornn.

If anyone knows of families who could benefit from this program, the application deadline is Nov. 26. Forms are available at www.blackfalds.ca with eligibility information included.

Call 403.600.9066 for more information.

The Blackfalds Christmas Bureau is a partnership between Blackfalds Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), the Blackfalds Food Bank Society, and the Blackfalds Fire Department.
