Resolution efforts continue for a Red Deer man accused of firing shots in a Blackfalds motel during an attempted robbery.

Defence lawyer Robin Snider said in Red Deer provincial court on Wednesday that she and the Crown prosecutor were working on an agreed statement of facts. They intend to make a joint sentencing submission.

Ryan Allan Bell, 27, of Red Deer, is facing 14 charges, including recklessly discharging a firearm, careless use of a firearm and using a firearm in the commission of an offence.

Blackfalds RCMP said they went to the Blackfalds Motor Inn at about 12:40 a.m. last Nov. 1, after getting a report that a man had fired a gun during a robbery attempt in the bar.

Patrons grabbed and held the suspect until police arrived.

Police allege that a shot was fired, but the gun was not pointed at anyone. The gun went off again during a struggle for the weapon.

Police arrested Bell at the scene.
