The Town of Blackfalds will conduct a municipal census in March after a three-year hiatus.
Census information is used by the municipality to assist in planning for the community’s needs such as future roads, the addition and location of schools, parks, utilities, protective, fire, and other services.
The online census starts on March 1, and door-to-door visits with official census enumerators will take place from March 15 to 31.
Residents will receive a letter with their exclusive census PIN (personal identification number) by the end of February to complete the census online.
Residents who complete their census online by March 15 will be added to a draw for a chance to win a brand-new tablet, valued at $1,000.
Enumerators, wearing a Town of Blackfalds photo identification badge and logo vest, will visit residents who have not completed the census online.
Enumerators will take all COVID-19 precautions necessary to protect themselves and residents. Social distancing, face coverings, masks, and limited interaction will allow the staff to acquire information safely and quickly.
Anyone interested in becoming an enumerator should visit blackfalds.com/careers for details.
The 2021 municipal census is conducted under the authority of the Alberta Municipal Government Act in accordance with the Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act.
