More than $60,000 of stolen property, including snowmobiles and trailers, were recovered this week by Blackfalds RCMP.

A property crimes investigation was started in October by Blackfalds RCMP, with the assistance of the Red Deer Crime Reduction Team, RCMP Air Services, and the Alberta RCMP Auto Theft Unit.

The investigation led to the Nov. 12 arrest of a man, who was in possession of stolen property at a Blackfalds residence.

On Nov. 13, search warrants were executed at residences in Blackfalds and Red Deer County and a business in the county.

As a result, officers from Blackfalds General Investigation Service recovered a variety of stolen property, including: a dump trailer, travel trailer, four snowmobiles, a flat-deck trailer, and a pickup truck.

The estimated value of this recovered property is over $60,000. Blackfalds RCMP have made efforts to contact all owners of the property that was recovered.

A 44-year-old Red Deer man was charged with 16 offences, including break and enter, theft, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and with altering, removing or destroying vehicle identification numbers.

The same suspect was also arrested on three outstanding warrants on unrelated matters out of Sylvan Lake and Lacombe.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Jan. 28.
