Blackfalds RCMP are cautioning people to lock their vehicles after a rash of thefts from vehicles and vehicle thefts in the last two weeks.

Blackfalds RCMP are cautioning people to lock their vehicles after a rash of thefts from vehicles and vehicle thefts in the last two weeks.

In most cases, vehicles were left unlocked and in the case of stolen vehicles, the keys were left inside.

In one recent arrest, it was learned that suspects had checked 70 vehicles and found more than one-third unlocked.

Police say it is a crime of opportunity and is more prevalent in summer months.

Blackfalds RCMP also encourage people to report any suspicious activity.
