The Town of Blackfalds will hold a byelection in early 2022 to fill a vacant councillor seat.

A full council was elected in the 2021 Municipal Election this past October, but Amanda Valin chose not to be sworn in for the 2021-25 term.

The nomination period began Nov. 10 – those interested in running are asked to submit nomination forms in person to returning officer Kalina Van Winssen by noon on Nomination Day, Dec. 13.

Advance polls will be held Jan. 5 and Jan. 8 in council chambers on the second level of the Civic Cultural Centre.

Election Day is Jan. 10 in council chambers from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Voters are asked to remember face masks are mandatory. The town is also asking voters to practise social distancing and clean hygiene.
