Participating in the last day of the Blood Matters campaign Camille Bailer director of the Alberta Health Services Central Zone, laboratory Services with the help of phlebotomist Liz Korsh gives a unit of blood on Monday afternoon.

As of Monday morning Central Alberta Laboratory Services personnel, their friends, family members and the public who opted into the Blood Matters campaign had given 140 of the 200 units of blood collected province wide in the month of April.

With their effort Canadian Blood Services had nearly met their goal of 12,000 units of blood donated for the month of April. Monday morning 11,570 units had been collected.

Canadian Blood Services operates a blood donor clinic in Red Deer at 5020-68 Street Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On Wednesdays the clinic travels throughout Central Alberta providing mobile clinics. For more information on blood donation clinics in the region go to blood.ca.
