Blue and green lights on Red Deer City Hall are signalling support for health-care workers and other essential service staff.

The lights on City Hall are shining blue and green to honour “workers everywhere” who are the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We lit up City Hall to show our recognition and support of our friends and colleagues in health and other essential services who are doing everything they can to respond to this health crisis,” said Mayor Tara Veer.

“The lights are a symbol of solidarity to health-care professionals and front-line responders, and I invite all Red Deerians to join us in this gesture.”

Residents can show support with blue and green on the outside of their homes. This can take the form of Christmas lights, ribbons, or coloured hearts in windows.

Red Deerians can also show support by drawing chalk pictures and messages of support on sidewalks or driveways, “while also enjoying some fresh air.”
