Blue-green algae begone on three Central Alberta lakes

Blue-green algae advisories on three Central Alberta lakes have been lifted by Alberta Health Services.

Blue-green algae advisories on three Central Alberta lakes have been lifted by Alberta Health Services.

Pine Lake, Alix Lake and Pigeon Lake are no longer under the advisories.

Recent weather has cooled lake and reservoir water temperatures to such an extent that blue-green algae is no longer a health concern, AHS said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

The algae (cyanobacteria) bloom advisories were issued earlier this year.

Visitors and residents are reminded by AHS to never drink or cook with untreated water directly from any lake or reservoir, at any time.
