Body found in residence on Samson Reserve; man charged

Walter Samuel Louis of the Samson Cree Nation faces charges of second-degree murder and indignity to a human body.

A body was found in a residence on the Samson Reserve on Sunday. The remains have yet to be positively identified. An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday in Edmonton.

On Sunday, Maskwacis RCMP received a report of a possible homicide at a Samson residence. Officers attended and then the Calgary RCMP major crimes unit was called and took charge of the investigation. Maskwacis community response unit, Wetaskiwin general investigation, K Division special tactical operation and forensic identification section have all been involved in the investigation.
