Boil water advisory issued for Oriole Park

Forty residences in Oriole Park are under a boil water advisory.

Forty residences in Oriole Park are under a boil water advisory.

The city issued the advisory at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Crews were on scene to fix a slow leaking valve that started on Friday. It was being monitored over the weekend, but worsened and required repair on Sunday. While crews were on scene, a second valve began leaking and a third ruptured.

The boil water advisory was issued as a precautionary measure as the potable water supply may be contaminated with the surrounding soil when the valve replacements take place. Once the water line is repaired, the city will send water samples to Alberta Health Services to ensure contamination has not occurred.

City staff went door-to-door to the affected residences between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Sunday.
