Bowden prison officials intercept $20,000 in marijuana

Bowden prison officials have found a package of marijuana estimated to be worth in excess of $20,000.

Bowden prison officials have found a package of marijuana estimated to be worth in excess of $20,000.

Rita Wehrle, a senior official with Bowden Institution, said one of her correctional officers discovered a package concealed in the gravel outside the food services building on November 17.

Ion scanners, drug dogs and searches of buildings, cells, prisoners and visitors are among the tools used to control the flow of drugs into federal institutions, said Wehrle.

No arrests have been made.
