A Sunterra Market chef led the first virtual Bowerlicious cooking demonstration hosted by Bower Place Mall and Sunterra Market this week.

Raj Nandamudi, culinary development chef at Sunterra Market who’s worked at the InterContinental Hilton and Fairmont groups around the world, showed how to dish up salmon with a citrus and caper glaze; turmeric cauliflower rice; an appetizer and dessert.

“We’ve partnered with Sunterra Market and a number of our retailers to offer hour-long sessions, which include a cooking demonstration in addition to a lifestyle component,” said Adwoa Obrenu-Yamoah, marketing manager for Bower mall owner, QuadReal Property Group.

“Next Wednesday (July 14) is our On The Table workshop, where design expert Kiki Davies will dish up everything you need to create a spectacular outdoor table-scape.”

Chef Raj from Sunterra Market will be teaching how to make pork chops with seasonal sides including fingerling potatoes with sautéed onions and …homemade biscuits with macerated cherries and cream.

More virtual cooking sessions, also led by Micah Agard, the assistant kitchen team lead at Sunterra, will also be offered on July 21 (ribs and tacos), and July 28 (gourmet sandwiches and hors d’oeuvres).

Participants can pay $50 (ingredients for a three-course meal for two included) or $10 to just watch the demonstration. The mall’s charity of choice, The Outreach Centre, will get some of the proceeds.

Obrenu-Yamoah said family-friendly events are always popular and highly-anticipated at Bower Place. “Throw food into the mix, and it’s even more of a winning recipe.”

The mall also wanted to show food-related tenants “some love” after a particularly challenging year, she added.

Other Bowerlicious activities will take place in-person this month at the shopping centre. There is a Foodie Balloonie selfie activation centre, fashion clinic and decor feature, and the Flavours of Bower passport program, activated by five purchases from food court tenants.
