A brain aneurysm has cut a young man’s journey across Canada short.
Raising funds for cancer and heart and stroke disease research, Brandon Harrison experienced a brain aneurysm, which caused a massive stroke, on Saturday during his stop in Red Deer.
He was rushed to Calgary by ambulance. There he underwent emergency surgery and is now in serious condition.
Harrison and his father, Michael Floyd, left St. John’s, Nfld., on May 14 on a cross-Canada trek on longboards. During the summer, they covered 5,400 km in 115 days. They were only three weeks and about 1,000 km from completing their mission to reach Victoria.
After beating cancer at the age of two and surviving a stroke at 15, Harrison founded Long for Life with Floyd to create awareness and raise funds.
