A break and enter at Penhold Fas Gas caused $5,000 damage early Monday morning.

At about 2 a.m. Innisfail RCMP responded to an alarm at the gas station and did not find any damage or sign of entry.

When the store manager arrived at 3 a.m. there was damage and police returned. While in the store an officer heard noises coming from the ceiling and a man was found inside the building.

A 21-year-old Lacombe man was charged with break and enter to commit mischief, mischief exceeding $5,000, possession of break-in tools, and breach of recognizance. He was remanded into custody and will appear in Red Deer provincial court on March 6.

Anyone with information about this or any other crime is asked to contact Innisfail RCMP at 403-227- 3342. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or report it online at www.tipsubmit.com. If information leads to an arrest there could be a cash reward up to $2,000.

RCMP say property crimes are a priority in its crime reduction strategies. There is an ongoing focus on targeting and putting a stop to the activities of repeat property crime offenders. Public assistance in reporting suspicious activity is an important piece of this strategy.
