Alberta Health Services has issued a notice of closure for a grocery store in Calgary after unsanitary conditions were discovered during an inspection.

The Forest Lawn Lucky Supermarket, located in the 4500 block of Eighth Avenue S.E., was ordered to close on Monday, after health inspectors discovered “an abundance of mouse droppings and urine.”

AHS said the droppings were found in multiple parts of the store, including on top and beside food products in the grocery area; inside the dairy display cooler in the grocery area; on/below/beside grocery and display shelves; inside the walk-in vegetable and meat coolers; behind equipment in the back storage areas; below equipment in the meat department; on the loading dock floor, and utility and generator room floors.

In the report, inspectors said food products were contaminated by mice and mouse chew holes were noted in several bags of chips in the grocery area.
