A Calgary man is facing criminal charges after a night break and enter at a Red Deer retirement complex.

A Calgary man is facing criminal charges after a night break and enter at a Red Deer retirement complex.

Police were called to a Masterpiece Aspen Ridge building, located in the 3100 block of 22nd Street, after a staff member reported hearing the sound of glass breaking at about 1:40 a.m. Monday.

Police searched the building’s exterior and spotted a male suspect inside. Building residents assisted police officers by letting them into the locked building, and police dog team also helped in the search.

In an attempt to evade capture, the suspect was found scaling several exterior balconies of the building. He was later apprehended and arrested.

A 29-year-old male from Calgary was taken into custody and is facing charges. His name has not yet been released.
