Calgary private school teacher accused of having sex with student

A teacher at a private school in Calgary has been charged with having a sexual relationship with a student.

CALGARY — A teacher at a private school in Calgary has been charged with having a sexual relationship with a student.

Between April 2011 and February 2014, it is alleged the 36-year-old man was involved in a sexual relationship with a now 17-year-old student.

The allegations were brought forward on March 5.

Police have not released the name of the teacher or the school to protect the female student’s identity.

The teacher is charged with sexual interference with a child under 16 years, invitation to sexual touching with child under 16 years, sexual contact with a youth by person in authority and sexual assault.

The accused made his first court appearance this morning.
