Calkins named to conservative shadow cabinet

Red Deer-Lacombe MP Blaine Calkins will serve as a member of the deputy Conservative shadow cabinet for the 44th Parliament.

In an announcement Wednesday, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives Erin O’Toole named Calkins deputy shadow minister for Public Services and Procurement.

O’Toole also named 27 other MPs as deputy shadow ministers.

The official opposition shadow cabinet is tasked with holding cabinet ministers to account and an appointment to the group is the closest thing the opposition has to naming an inner circle.
