A camper was rescued from Pinto Lake after an SOS message was seen in the snow.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP say an Edmonton male hiked from Highway 11 near Cline River to Pinto Lake last Wednesday. A few days later, an SOS message stomped in the snow on the lake was captured by a remote forestry camera.

Police were notified Monday and found out the individual was suppose to have returned home on Sunday and was overdue.

Rocky Mountain House Search and Rescue, along with RCMP K Division Air Services personnel, were deployed to Pinto Lake, where the male and his dog were located at his camp in good health.

He told police he ran out of adequate resources and was unable to make it back to his vehicle and needed assistance. Both him and his dog were airlifted from Pinto Lake back to the trailhead staging area.
