The call is going out for more volunteer help to assist with Canada Day celebrations at PasKaPoo Park on Aug. 21 in Rimbey.

With restrictions having lifted, there is a whole bunch of fun family events slated to take place that day – which were postponed from July 1.

Highlights for Aug. 21 also include a children’s DJ, face painting, a special opening ceremony with the mayor from 1 to 1:30 p.m. and birthday cake being served from 1:30 to 2 p.m., said Cindy Bowie, director of community services for the Town of Rimbey.

“We are going to celebrate Canada as we didn’t really get to do that on July 1st,” she said. “It’s something for the community, so hopefully we will have a good turn-out.”

Activities, hosted by the town and held at PasKaPoo Park, are planned to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will also be a concession available through the event, plus all of the buildings onsite will be open for free for folks to wander through.

The building tour part of the event needs volunteers.

“In order to do that, we need volunteers to man the buildings,” said Cheryl Jones, administrator for PasKaPoo Park. They also need help to run the concession stand as well.

According to the town’s website, “The Historical Park houses Rimbey’s museum showcase. The Rimbey Historical Society has painstakingly preserved the region’s heritage with exhibits located in vintage buildings that were refurbished and brought to the site.

For more about volunteer opportunities for the upcoming celebration, call Cheryl Jones at 403-843-2004 or Cindy Bowie at 403-843-3151.
