The hardcore punk band Cancer Bats will perform next month in Red Deer.

The show is in support of the Toronto-based group’s critically praised Juno-nominated seventh studio album, Psychic Jailbreak.

Lead vocalist Liam Cormier and the rest of the band are on an Alberta tour that stops for a show at The Vat on March 10.

Psychic Jailbreak was nominated for a 2023 JUNO Award in the Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year category. It’s released on the band’s own label, Bat Skull Records/New Damage Records

The recording is the first to be written by the current lineup of Cormier, Jaye Schwarzer (bass and guitar) and Mike Peters(drums), following the departure of founding member and guitarist Scott Middleton.

The previous Cancer bats album, The Spark That Moves (2018) was commercially successful, critically praised and appeared on numerous ‘Best of 2018’ lists. It also picked up the band’s fifth Juno nomination.

The band, also nominated for New Group of the Year in 2009 and Rock Album of the Year in 2011, has toured the globe.
