Candlelight vigil, march in Red Deer to mark one-year anniversary of Russia invading Ukraine

Event being held Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.

Central Albertans are being invited to attend a candlelight vigil exactly one year after Russia invaded Ukraine.

On Friday, Feb. 24 St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Ukrainian Displaced Persons Planning Committee of Red Deer will host a memorial service, followed by a candlelight march in solidarity with Ukraine.

There will be a prayer service at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church (3932 46 St.), followed by a march to City Hall Park. The event begins at 6 p.m.

Attendees are asked to bring candles, battery-powered flashlights and Ukrainian flags.
