Arlene Hilman watches Mike Balson, a casual hire from Service Canada Centre for Youth, mow her lawn Wednesday. This is the second time Hilman, a strong believer in supporting youth workers, has hired Balson, an equally strong believer in the jobs the former Hire-A-Student has helped him find. Service Canada Centre for Youth’s Odd Job Week now on highlights the government agency’s ability to match employers and student labourers. It will host its annual BBQ Block Party Friday at the west end of 51st Street to promote casual working relationships. Employers and students can register for the service by calling (403) 340-4250.
