Cattle prod, handgun allegedly used in armed robbery of Eckville Hotel

Mounties say a cattle prod and a handgun were used in the armed robbery of the Eckville Hotel, and police are looking for two suspects.

Sylvan Lake RCMP were called to the hotel just after 4 p.m. Friday afternoon to the reported armed robbery.

Police said two male suspects, one armed with a silver pistol and another armed with a cattle prod, made off with some cash. They left the hotel on foot.

Through their investigation, police said the suspects ordered everyone in the bar during the incident to put their hands up. Money was collected from the behind the bar and, with no further interaction, the suspects fled the scene out the back door.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police say the suspects wore blue work coveralls, black masks and gloves. It is believed a white truck may be associated to the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sylvan Lake RCMP at 403-858-7200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
