Cattle truck rolls near Didsbury

DIDSBURY — Several head of cattle are dead after a truck they were being transported in rolled on a highway in southern Alberta.

RCMP said the crash happened early Saturday on Highway 22 near the community of Didsbury, about 60 kilometres northwest of Calgary.

The driver was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Several of the 42 animals on board the truck were killed and a number more had to be euthanized because of their injuries.

Police said firefighters and veterinarians called to the scene tried to save as many cattle as possible.
