Investigators are still working to determine what caused a garage to go up in flames in Clearview Meadows.

The fire, at 49 Card Crescent started shortly before noon Tuesday, was put out quickly by fire crews and no one was injured.

“When we arrived there was fire and smoke coming from the backside of the garage. It was a detached garage. The fire was contained to the source of origin,” said deputy fire chief Jon Evans.

Evans added that the fire didn’t spread beyond the detached garage and investigators hope to determine a cause soon. He said there were a few propane tanks in the garage that were not impinged.

He cautioned Red Deerians to keep an eye out on their garage, especially during the holiday and winter months.

“Storage of hazardous material of any sort is always a concern when we enter buildings. Garages tend to be the place where people store their flammables and that,” he said.

“Sometimes you’ve got overloaded circuits with extension cords and space heaters tend to be common causes.”
