Sunnybrook Farm’s executive-director Ian Warwick will be performing on his saxophone this month with the Central Alberta Chamber Orchestra.

Warwick admitted people will see him “wearing a different hat” at the Feb. 24 Vacation South of the Border concert in Red Deer — as well as at a Feb. 25 concert in Rocky Mountain House.

It might even be a sombrero, since the concert will present exuberant tunes from sunny climes — including Mexico.

Warwick started performing with the Central Alberta Chamber Orchestra last year “when they were looking for additional chamber musicians.” He actually has two music degrees, having studied saxophone and voice in university.

“It’s been so amazing to work with professionals in Red Deer again, after stepping back from instrumental work after I left Calgary back in 2007,” said Warwick.

The Central Alberta Chamber Orchestra is made up of veteran musicians from the region, including James Bicago, Karen Gustafson and many others. This is the CACO’s second season of performing “joyful music by musicians from your own community.”

Gustafson said, “Let the local dynamic professional musicians of CACO take you on an unforgettable, fun-filled musical adventure. Get ready to soak up the sun, indulge in daring dances, and be transported to a getaway featuring music from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and United States…”

The musicians will explore vibrant cultures and diverse musical forms. Gustafson promised something for everyone, “whether you are a classical-music fan, an adventurous listener, or seeking some relaxation.”

Red Deer’s concert on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. is at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 40 Holmes St.

The Rocky Mountain House show is on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. at First Christian Reformed Church, one kilometre south of town on Highway 11. (RR 3 Box 6 Site 4).

Tickets are available from eventbrite.ca, or cash (preferred) at the door; Adults $25/Seniors and Students $12.50.
