Central Alberta communities are receiving federal infrastructure grants as part of Canada’s 150th birthday celebration.

Central Alberta communities are receiving federal infrastructure grants as part of Canada’s 150th birthday celebration.

Five communities in East Central Alberta will receive federal grants totalling about $549,705. The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program grants are intended to help communities modernize local recreation facilities and community infrastructure.

The grants are as follows:

Village of Consort receives $375,000 to upgrade the ice plant at the Consort Sportsplex.

Stettler Curling Club Association gets $38,421 for renovations.

Coronation Memorial Arena Board receives $32,117 to enhance the ice arena.

Heisler Agriculture Society gets $36,500 to convert the skating arena into a multi-use facility.

Town of Killam receives $67,667 to upgrade the Memorial Arena.
