Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre to host May 5 open house

Centre serves as a hub for crime prevention programs and initiatives

Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre is hosting an open house on May 5.

The centre at 4311 49th Ave. will host visitors from noon to 3 p.m. At 12:30 p.m., deputy mayor Michael Dawe will present a proclamation for Crime Prevention Month.

The centre serves as a hub for crime prevention and marked its 11th anniversary in March. The crime prevention hub model brings together multiple crime prevention programs to work and network together for community safety. Each partner organization pays an annual user fee that gives their program a home and is based on how they use the centre as well as which resources they access.

As a non-profit, overseen by a board of community members, the funding model is diverse, with grants, fees for service, product sales, sponsors and donors. In addition, three trademark events contribute to our financial sustainability through community support. These include Touch-A-Truck, Annual Huge Garage Sale and the Charity Checkstop with Coats 4 Kids.

At the open house, light snacks and refreshments will be served. To RSVP, call Angela at 403-986-9904 or email info@cacpc.ca
