A dog was shot in Central Alberta this week and was brought into the care of Saving Grace Animal Society in Alix.

In a Facebook post Thursday, Saving Grace said the dog, who they’re now calling “Lucky” was shot on Thursday.

The society confirmed Friday that its owner returned home to find the dog had been wounded.

The gunshot went straight through the dog, missing all of its major organs and was a centimetre away from her spinal cord.

The dog is still hospitalized, but the society said she’s wagging her tail and they’re confident she will come through recovery.

The society is accepting donations for Lucky and e-transfers can be sent to savinggracecanada@outlook.com.
