Selling homes continues to be a challenging business to be in.
To the end of August, 2,524 homes were sold, down 10 per cent from the same period in 2018, says statistics provided by the Central Alberta Realtors Association.
In August, 353 units were sold, down 17.7 per cent from August 2018, according to Multiple Listing Service data.
Residential sales activity in all of Alberta, by comparison, edged down 3.4 per cent in August 2019 compared to August 2018.
There were 698 new residential listings in central Alberta in August 2019, down 16.9 per cent from August 2018 and the lowest in 13 years.
The dollar value of all home sales in August 2019 was $100.6 million, falling 20.4 per cent from the same month in 2018.
By comparison, the dollar value of all home sales in Alberta decreased 4.7 per cent compared to August 2018.
There were 4,373 active residential listings at the end of August down 6.3 per cent from last year.
Sales of all property types hit 376 units in August 2019, a decrease of 17.4 per cent from August 2018. The total value of all properties sold was $111 million, falling 24.1 per cent from August 2018.
