A 39-year-old from central Alberta is facing 11 charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle and carrying a loaded handgun while in the vehicle.
Innisfail RCMP received reports of a suspicious vehicle in Penhold around 9 a.m. Thursday morning. After attending the location, police discovered a male sleeping in the car, which had been stolen from Okotoks.
When police entered the vehicle, they found a loaded 9MM glock handgun, ammunition and illegal drugs, including methamphetamine and fentanyl on his person. A number of break-in tools were also located in the vehicle.
The man, who was wanted on a Canada Wide Apprehension order, appeared in Red Deer provincial court on Friday.
