Central Alberta mayors to kick off National Falls Prevention Awareness Month

Central Alberta mayors will get together to help raise awareness for National Falls Prevention Month.

Seven mayors will lead the Central Alberta Falls Prevention Coalition’s Walk with the Mayors at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre at 9:15 a.m. Nov. 1.

The event will feature light refreshments and local resources.

One out of three Albertans older than 65 will fall at least once a year and one out of two Albertans older than 80 will fall at least once a year. Ninety-five per cent of all hip fractures and 40 per cent of all nursing home admissions are a direct result of falling.
