Central Alberta police find drugs during traffic stop

Lacombe Police Service seized $14,000 worth of drugs and several weapons after a traffic stop on Highway 2A early Thursday morning.

Police said they found methamphetamine, psilocybin, carfentanil and several weapons in the vehicle.

A 25-year-old Red Deer man was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a weapon contrary to a weapons prohibition.

He was released from custody and is set to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on April 22.
