Several RCMP detachments across Central Alberta were needed to arrest the driver of a stolen vehicle near Buck Lake.
Rimbey RCMP attempted to stop a stolen truck on April 8 but it fled the area. Crime Reduction Units from Central Alberta District and Rocky Mountain House were called in to help and they were able to locate the vehicle.
While officers were observing, the driver stopped on a rural road and exited the vehicle. Police were able to arrest the driver, a 38-year-old Wetaskiwin County resident, without risk to the public. Charges against the driver of the vehicle are pending.
“This is a good example of our officers adjusting our tactics and utilizing information from the public in order to effectively and safely recover stolen property and arrest those responsible,” said Cpl. William Hiscock of the Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit.
