A number of central Alberta restaurants are being highlighted as part of the third annual Alberta on the Plate dine around festival Aug. 6-15.
Eighty-eight restaurants in 27 communities, featuring more than 200 farms and producers, will be highlighted at this year’s event.
Here are some of the local restaurants being featured:
- Red Deer: Bo’s Bar & Stage, Cilantro and Chive, and Gasoline Alley Farmers’ Market
- Lacombe: Cilantro and Chive
- Sylvan Lake: Lodge 43
- Trochu: Sweetgrass Café
- Wetaskiwin: The Glens Grill
“This slate of restaurants showcases the local flavours that influence each region of the province,” said Tannis Baker, director of big ideas with Food Tourism Strategies.
“From the Indigenous peoples who shaped our land, to the immigration influences of the French, Ukrainian, Chinese and Vietnamese, the Alberta terroir is shaped by the people as much as by the land which is reflected in the diversity of the restaurants, food products and culinary creators across Alberta.”
Alberta on the Plate takes place in conjunction with Alberta Local Food Week and wraps up the same weekend as Open Farm Days. For a full list of Alberta on the Plate participating restaurants, visit www.albertaontheplate.com.
