The Central Alberta Victim and Witness Support Society has started a major fundraising initiative.
CAVWSS is aiming to raise over $35,000 over the next year in order to secure funding for future operations as well as increasing community awareness about existing programs.
The organization relies heavily on funding and direct financial contributions from donors and sponsorships in order to provide services for cases such as homicide, family/domestic violence, sexual assault, physical assault, armed robbery/robbery, theft, fraud, break and enter and others.
“Any one of us could become a victim or witness of crime and tragedy at any given time and be faced with an overwhelming, emotional and difficult road ahead,” said executive director, Gloria Derksen, in a release.
CAVWSS is a non-profit registered charity organization that supports victims and witnesses of crime and tragedy and helps individuals and families bridge the gap from hurt to hope through professional and compassionate provision of direct support, information, referral and education.
“You can help make a difference. Whether you are in a position to make a financial donation, corporate sponsorship, a gift in kind or a gift card for food/clothing/travel,” said fund development coordinator, Amber Casey.
